Penile Vibratory Stimulation

Men with spinal cord injury can frequently achieve erection and have sexual intercourse , however the percentage who can successfully ejaculate is very low . Penile vibratory stimulation is an office procedure that is painless and requires no anesthetic or sedation.

Electroejaculation

Electroejaculation is another technique that can be used to stimulate ejaculation in men with spinal cord injury who are not responsive to penile vibratory stimulation .

An electric probe or electroejaculator is inserted into the rectum and positioned against the prostate . Using increasing frequency and amplitude of energy , ejaculation is stimulated.

The ejaculate is collected from the urethra as well as the bladder , as frequently retrograde ejaculation into the bladder occure . Because of this , patients are permedicated to adjust the PH of their urine so that sperm can survive in the bladder . If enough sperm are able to be collected in the ejaculate , they are washed and processed by the IVF lab and can be used for IUI.

UROCUFF - Similar to the urinary flow test , this test measures the strength of your stream as you urinate into a funnel . In addition , the patient places asmall cuff at the base of his penis before beginning urination . Alternatively , the patient can urinate into a small chamber (see below) . As the patient urinates , the machine measures the average pressure of the bladder and the pressure to stop the urine flow . This may be slightly uncomfortable but should not be painful . On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is no urge and 10 is an accident will happen any moment , it is preferable to have an urgency to urinate of 8,9 or 10 . This test is considered a non - invasive form of urodynamics . This means we are able to get excellent information on the function of your bladder and how much the prostate is causing problems WITHOUT the need for invasive catheters . This test also has the advantage of being able to be performed on the same day as your first BPH in person visit if appropriate.

ARIFICIAL SPHINCTER

MALE SLING : This is a procedure performed on men with small volume (light) leakage . Also, it is only for men who have NOT had radiation therapy for prostate cancer . In properly selected men , the male sling provides a nice option for treating stress incontinence . Usually the procedure is performed as an outpatient . As with any procedure , complications can occur but with an experienced surgeon these complication should be rare . When complications do occur , they require advanced level evaluations and treatment .

About 95 percent of testicular cancers begin in germ cells, specialized cells in the testicles that make sperm. While these tumors typically start in the testicles they also occasionally arise in the abdomen, chest, or other areas of the body, even if there’s no evidence of cancer in or near the testicles.

Two of the most common germ cell tumors are seminoma and nonseminoma.

• Seminomas make up about half of all germ cell tumors. They usually grow slowly. Our doctors can often cure early-stage seminomas because they’re less likely to metastasize (spread) to other parts of the body.
• Nonseminomas are often more aggressive than seminomas, and more likely to spread beyond the testicle.

With a procedure called radical orchiectomy, surgeons remove the tumor along with the testicle. This highly effective surgery is usually used early on in diagnosis and staging of testicular cancer. When combined with lifelong monitoring, it can be the only treatment needed for early-stage germ cell tumors that haven’t spread beyond the testicle.

This surgery won’t affect your fertility or your ability to get and keep an erection.
